Wheeeeeeeeeeeeew! Good to be back. How are we? Here are some of the best things I’ve found on the internet in the last few months.
Watches
It’s been a long time since I’ve watched something that handled both its characters and its plot so masterfully. Mare of Easttown never does what you think it will do, yet never takes you past the reasonable. Suspense, family drama, and a surprising amount of heart.
In The Heights, in theaters (or stream it on HBO Max through July 11th)
I love a musical, and I love all things set in New York City. This is a story about following your dreams, and how that path often looks different than you’d imagined. It’s about community and sticking together even as you go your separate ways. Mini bonus, if you like Brooklyn Nine Nine there’s a fun surprise just for you.
Never Have I Ever, Netflix
Now is the time to watch the first season of this gem, because the second season is coming this month. Classic teen movie, but better. Underneath the coming of age angst and the first love drama, their treatment of the grieving process is true and artfully done.
Listens
It’s no secret that this is my favorite podcast in general, but I’m recommending you listen to this particular episode because I’m featured. No big deal.
Ooookaaaaay. Here we have a podcast about the infamous Fallwell family of Liberty University, and how they got to be infamous in the first place. It is fascinating, heartbreaking, and definitely not for little or sensitive ears.
Products
This meat smasher thing has made cooking with any sort of ground beef a million times less annoying.
These Walmart knock off girl scout cookies are incredible. The mint and peanut butter ones are my favorite, and I keep them in the freezer. The graham and coconut varieties are great too.

My friend Taylor wrote an incredible book about her life as a shooting survivor. It’s called When Thoughts And Prayers Aren’t Enough, it’s out July 20th. Pre-order here. But more relevant to our present purposes, she also has the most relatable toddler ever.
Noteworthy:
I gotta admit, when I saw someone casually mention the Gulf of Mexico being on fire a while back, I thought they were making a hyperbolic comment about the heat wave. Alas, no. The Gulf—the water—was in fact on fire. What a time to be alive.
It’s been recently discovered that Trevor Cochrane has never watched much of the Olympics. THE OLYMPICS, PEOPLE. So I introduced him to one Ms. Simone Biles.
Okay your turn! Tell me something you’ve watched, listened to, or discovered on the internet recently that makes you happy.
Love you, bye.
I have always described myself as "not a podcast person" but this month I discovered two podcasts! The Small Group Show and Looking for the Real God.
I also binged watched the series "heroes"
