Earlier today I opted not to start putting this little note together because I was having steady contractions and thought I’d probably have a baby, in which case I’d drop a short and sweet announcement and call it a day. But alas. Five hours of steady contractions and no baby. So here we are.
So weird how the normal things keep wanting attention even when the big things are happening and/or about to happen, right? The nerve.
However flaky my uterus continues to be, at least the internet can be relied upon for entertainment. Here’re my favs from the week.
Our dear Beth Moore had a friend and ministry partner suffer a massive brain bleed earlier this month, and has been understandably distraught. This exchange between Mama Beth and a woman who wouldn’t usually like her warmed my heart.
Coming up on six years in a kind marriage, I cannot overemphasis the value of just plain old being nice to each other.
I love the weirdness of children.
📺 We started watching Kim’s Convenience on Netflix the other night, and it’s been delightful so far. Funny, and tight twenty minute episodes. It’s great for the laughs, but I think it’s the first sitcom following a Korean family that I’ve ever watched, and I always love learning about how other folks see the world.
👑 SPEAKING OF LEARNING THINGS. We also watched Oprah’s interview with Meghan and Harry. We watched it because Trevor, who has never so much as mentioned the Royals before, turned to me and said, “I just learned that Harry and Meghan left the royal family last year. Good to know I’m really keeping up with the world.” I mentioned that Oprah had just interviewed them about it, and he immediately turned on the TV to watch. YALL. We were riveted. Get thee the free CBS app and watch the whole thing.
🎧 If you’d rather listen than watch, a friend and I launched a new podcast this month! New episodes drop bi-weekly, each covering a topic that church small groups usually skip. It’s called The Small Group Show (because it’s where we say things we wouldn’t say in church small group 😎) Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts!
Alrighty. I’m gonna take a shower and try not to be too disgruntled about the whole still-pregnant situation.
What’s the best thing you found on the internet this week?
my husband and i love kim’s convenience! it’s a show that definitely mirrors some of our lived experiences as Asian Americans. we’re so sad that season 5 will be their last season.
