Hello there, nonsense lovers. Are your extremities a tad cooler than usual?
At this present moment in Fort Worth it is twenty eight degrees outside and the state of Texas, big and loud though she be, has zero clues about cold weather. I, having lived away from real winter for a blissful 2.5 years now, have nothing to wear. This is me two years ago, gleefully shedding the no-longer-necessary burden of a full winter wardrobe…
And here I am now, realizing that I have one hoodie and one real sweater left as I stare down a forecast that promises single digit lows.
👚 Which leads me to ask, do you know about ThredUp? They were my first stop earlier this week when I realized Texas Chilly’s older brother Big Winter would be staying longer than anticipated. It’s an online thrift and consignment shop with a customer experience that feels like browsing the retail sites. $85 Anthro cardigan for $18? Why yes, thank you, don’t mind if I do.
💉 Speaking of things I’m helping myself to, I registered for the Covid vaccine a couple of weeks ago. (Obviously I am not helping myself. I am patiently waiting my turn.) When I realized that pregnancy is one of the prioritized conditions for vaccinations in my state, I read several articles as I tried to decide what I would do, several of which Dr. Marta Perez cites in this video. If you’re pregnant and wondering about the risks of vaccination, I think you’ll find it helpful whatever you decide.
👩🏻🍼 Over the past three or four years I’ve been ruminating on unwanted pregnancies, struggling women, and what it looks like to be holistically pro life. Last week I shared with you Sharon McMahon’s Abortion discussion, and this week I read this excellent piece from David French.
🦧 Those last two blurbs were a bit heavy on the good side of things, so let’s get into some nonsense, shall we?
How many millions are we out here politely declining?
Four year old sweetness is it’s own special brand.
YAY TAXES.
And now, back to the good. Evan Welcher is one of my favorite on the Twitterverse. Almost every night he tweets, “Sleep tight, Beloved. Resurrection Day approaches,” and it reliably makes me tear up. This thread is no exception to his dearness.
Alrighty folks. My husband just woke up out of a dead sleep and assumed the “about to puke” position over the toilet, so that’s my cue to sign off here and move my pillows to the living room for the night. Make sure to leave your good nonsense in the comments. It looks like I may need it more than usual.
Hi Stephanie, I have a cousin in Fort Worth. You all are getting slammed! Yesterday it was -15 in Harrisonville,. When it warmed up to 7 degrees it felt so nice. It’s warmer today16 degrees with more snow. You all stay safe and warm. Say hello to Trevor! You are missed!🥰
Hope you’re surviving that crazy Texas weather!! Praying you have warmth, electricity and heat! ☺️ And to think, my family traveled to the snow on purpose for the weekend! 😂😉but since we live in a pretty much year round dream weather world, it’s all fine!
